# GMGN rate-limit lines 11 Oct 11:00 BKK (#1590/#1592/#1594)
One incident, three alerts (same logs: firstmin l2/l2v, mirrored to main and research-box).
- 11:00:06 l2 pick 0x5ebda747...; 11:00:16 first quote fails with GMGN HTTP 401 (40101600), not a rate limit.
- l2 and l2v (two lanes, same IP) then both run entry_retry every ~5 s (6 tries each, 11:00:18-11:00:51) on the same token. Both treat 401 as transient.
- ~12 quote calls in 30 s from one IP -> 429 RATE_LIMIT_EXCEEDED (l2v 11:00:21) -> RATE_LIMIT_BANNED for the rest of the window. All 12 lines are in this window; none before or after (SELFTEST ok from 11:07).

Cause: auth error (401) retried like a network error, by two lanes with no shared throttle/backoff -> self-inflicted IP ban. The pick was lost anyway.

Fix (live, exec only): do not retry on 401 (fail fast, alert once); one shared per-IP quote limiter/backoff across l2, l2v and mc5; on RATE_LIMIT_BANNED stop calling until the reset time. Also find why 401 appeared at 11:00 (key/signature/clock?).
