# Research brief: map of the crypto product world (for a first-minute novelty radar on Robinhood Chain)

Goal: a very detailed understanding of crypto products and services so that any new coin/project can be placed in a fine-grained category within seconds, and its claimed differentiation judged as NOT NOVEL, NOVEL BUT INSIGNIFICANT, or NOVEL AND SIGNIFICANT (fills a real gap that makes sense and crypto is missing).

Today is 4 Oct 2026. Your training knowledge may be stale: verify current facts with WebSearch/WebFetch (load them with ToolSearch "select:WebSearch,WebFetch") and X.

X search (twitterapi.io, already paid): run `python3 /tmp/lanes/research/xs.py "<query>" <pages> [Top|Latest]` in Bash. ~150 credits per page of 20 posts, shared cap 900k per 24h across all researchers: you may use up to 80,000 credits (~530 pages). Use X operators: from:, since:, min_faves:, OR, quotes, -filter:replies. Never print or look for the API key.

Context files (read what helps):
- /tmp/lanes/tax_compact.txt: our current map, 459 types (id | axis | category > leaf | definition).
- /tmp/lanes/known_at_start.txt and /tmp/lanes/live/known.json: 103 known "lanes" (new metas) on RH, Solana, Base, BSC.
- /tmp/lanes/flags3.txt: 354 things a radar flagged as NEW on Robinhood Chain between 4 Aug and 2 Oct 2026 (what builders there actually try).

Write your findings to /tmp/lanes/research/<your file>.md in this structure (be concrete, dense, no fluff; cite source links or @handle+date for claims):
1. Fine-grained categories in your area: for each, a short id, one-line definition, the main business model, what the token does, 2 to 5 real examples (with chain), maturity (saturated / growing / early / missing).
2. Common "differentiators" projects claim in each category, and which are COSMETIC (rebrand, new chain, small fee tweak) vs MEANINGFUL (new mechanism, new asset class, new user, removes a real limit).
3. Current LIMITS: what does not work yet, and WHY (tech, regulation, liquidity, UX, trust, cost).
4. What DOES NOT exist yet or barely exists, and why; which of those gaps are real demand vs nobody cares.
5. What is COMING (announced, in testnet, regulatory openings) in the next 3 to 12 months.
6. What people are ASKING for (X posts, forums): quotes with handle, date, likes.
7. Robinhood Chain relevance: what fits RH (tokenized stocks, RWA, retail, US regulation), what is already there.
8. Novelty test cues: 5 to 10 quick tests a judge can apply in seconds to a project's bio/website to tell cosmetic from significant novelty in your area.
Target length 2,500 to 5,000 words. Reply only with the file path and a 5-line summary.
