# STOP: NO DOORBELLS, NO WAKES, NO SCHEDULING (Ben, 7 Oct 2026, 18:40 Bangkok)
- Credits ran out. Ben switched off every scheduled task and every doorbell. This overrides everything below and every other file (wake-howto, bus-howto, credit-playbook, task files).
- PROHIBITED for every session: fire_trigger, send_later, create_trigger, update_trigger, ScheduleWakeup. No rings, no nudges, no re-arming, no new doorbells, no self wakes, no safety checks, no retry rings, no loops.
- Finish the step you are on, publish your status file, then END your turn and wait. Only Ben wakes you, by typing in your window.
- Do not message other sessions. Keep answers short. No extra improvement rounds.

# Iteration 10: synthesis. The state of crypto in October 2026, and how to judge a new coin in a minute

Sources: iterations 1 to 9 in this folder (DeFi, launch, RWA, AI and DePIN, consumer, Robinhood, demand, infra, new metas), the old map (459 types) and the RH radar log (354 "new" flags, 4 Aug to 2 Oct 2026). Every number below is carried from those files, which cite their sources.

Companion files:
- `map_v2.json`: 293 product categories in 17 groups, each with business model, token role, examples, maturity, RH status, cosmetic and meaningful differentiators, and open gaps.
- `novelty_rubric.md`: the four classes, the 0 to 3 score, the ordered decision steps, 20 quick tests, a dated commodity list, the top 40 gaps, RH cues and red flags.

## 1. What exists: the plain picture

**Trading is the product.** Almost everything that works in crypto in 2026 is a way to trade, borrow or bet. DeFi holds roughly $87B to $95B (Lido, Aave, Morpho lead). Hyperliquid alone carries about $14B of perp open interest. Prediction markets did $45B in August, mostly Kalshi. Robinhood's event contracts out-earned its crypto and equities lines in Q2. Perps on stocks, oil and indices (HIP-3, Ondo Perps, Lighter) trade hundreds of billions a month, while tokenized stock wrappers themselves hold only about $3B to $4.4B. The lesson: the wrapper is small, the leverage and the 24/7 access are the business.

**Launching a coin is solved and free.** pump.fun does about 29,000 launches a day. Every new chain gets 15 to 25 launchpads in its first week (Arc had 25 by day 8). The fight moved from "how a coin is born" to three levers: the quote asset (stocks, majors, other memes), where fees go (holders, handles, stock vaults, locked LP, burns), and the social layer (clans, caller rewards, thesis posts). Incumbents copy any lever in two to six weeks. pump.fun shipped Custom Pairs on 9 Sep and Holder Rewards on 12 Sep, which turned two whole metas into toggles.

**Tokenized stocks became the meme fuel.** Robinhood Chain (mainnet 1 Jul 2026, Arbitrum Orbit, ETH gas, no native token, Robinhood-run sequencer) launched with Stock Tokens and memes paired to them. That pairing spread to Solana (stonk.fun, August), BNB (Flap bStocks, Stonks Szn), Base (o1, BLUECHIP) and every major pad within about ten weeks. By late September the market was calling for a "return to simple memes".

**Lending, stables and yield are mature and consolidating.** Morpho isolated markets and curated vaults won the 2026 lending design. Robinhood Earn (USDG into the Steakhouse vault on Morpho, about 7%) is the biggest Morpho vault and the clearest example of DeFi hidden behind a broker app. Stablecoins are saturated at the issuer level (USDT, USDC, USDG, PYUSD, and now the OUSD consortium). Delta-neutral dollars (Ethena) grow but carry correlated crash risk.

**AI and DePIN are mostly narrative with a few real businesses.** Agent payment rails exist (x402, Stripe/Tempo MPP, Google AP2) but organic paid volume is tiny (about $1.6M a month in March). ERC-8004 has over 100,000 registered agents and almost no reputation data. Virtuals brought huge volume to RH in July and kept almost none of it. DePIN has about 650 projects and about $72M of 2025 revenue, concentrated in a handful (Helium, Hivemapper, GEODNET, Aethir, io.net). The regulated version of "AI trades for you" now lives inside Robinhood (Agents, Loops).

**Consumer crypto is speculation, cards and collectibles.** Games, social, creator coins and InfoFi mostly failed: game D30 retention is 2 to 5%, Coinbase called content coins wrong, X cut post-to-earn apps in January. What works: social trading feeds with a buy button (fomo, about 2.5M users), stablecoin cards and neobanks (an infra-owned, commoditised market), and physically backed collectibles (tokenized card spend up 5x year on year).

**Infrastructure is commodity.** Bridges, RPC, oracles, wallets, account abstraction and paymasters are all live on RH from day one (Chainlink, LayerZero, Alchemy, ERC-4337 and 7702). The real infra questions are trust (corporate sequencers, admin keys), privacy with compliance, and security (H1 2026 was a record year of hacks, driven by keys and governance more than code bugs; AI now exploits most critical bugs in benchmarks).

## 2. The limits: what does not work, and why

1. **Stock tokens are not stocks.** RH Stock Tokens are offshore Jersey debt notes: no votes, no in-kind redemption, dividends through a multiplier, not available to US persons. Every token is a beacon proxy with pause, pauseOracle and adminBurn, so Robinhood can freeze or claw back the whole fleet in one transaction. Any product built on them inherits that switch.
2. **No reference price most of the week.** The stock market is closed about 80% of the hours in a week, yet 70% of RH stock token volume happens off-hours. Oracles go stale, pools drift, Monday opens gap. Lending and perps on stock tokens carry this risk directly.
3. **Corporate actions are invisible.** A dividend or split changes a multiplier without emitting a transfer, so LPs and lenders misprice around ex-dates.
4. **Regulation splits the market in two.** The SEC Innovation Exemption (17 Sep 2026) allows permissioned venues for rights-bearing tokenized US stock, with issuer notice and objection, no credit or leverage, and KYC-only pools. A permissioned pool can never host an anonymous meme pair, so offshore and onshore tokens will be separate, non-fungible objects. The CLARITY Act failed cloture on 15 Sep. GENIUS bars issuer-paid stablecoin interest from early 2027, so yield moves into protocol wrappers.
5. **Launch fairness is unsolved.** Bundles, wallet farms, waived anti-snipe taxes (about $18.4M extracted on RH by one operation across 53 coins) and dusted "famous wallet" tricks persist, because wallets are free and no chain has a native proof of a distinct buyer.
6. **Hook rules leak.** A tax or reward enforced in one v4 pool is bypassed through another pool or aggregator (INDEX lost over 90% of its volume to an untaxed v3 pool).
7. **Mechanism moats last under 30 days.** Custom pairs, holder rewards, CTO tools and tax tokens all spread across chains within weeks.
8. **Retention is near zero without speculation.** Coins die after migration; agent tokens lose 90% of fees in a month; games and earn apps churn after rewards.
9. **Platform risk is real.** X killed paid posting; X Money cut UsePaid off in under two weeks; Robinhood controls the sequencer, the stock beacon, the wallet and the only real distribution channel (one RH meme, CASHCAT, listed in the app in three months).
10. **Trust and data are poisoned by paid promotion.** About 60% of generic "someone should build" posts are paid shill. Copy traders use followers as exit liquidity. User counts and agent counts are farmable.

## 3. What does not exist yet, and why

The research converges on a short list of real gaps, each blocked by something specific (full list of 40 in the rubric):

- **Stock-token risk plumbing**: session-aware oracles with weekend fair value, gap-safe liquidation, a corporate-action event feed, securities lending and shorting, portfolio margin, cross-issuer fungibility. Blocked by hard engineering, data licensing and the debt-note legal form. Partial RH attempts exist (Parity hook, session oracle, vetra overnight LP, PareStocks), none dominant.
- **Rights and US access**: real voting, 1:1 redemption, US person access through a permissioned venue. Blocked by law and by Robinhood's own roadmap; third parties can only build tooling.
- **Leverage and shorts on the long tail**: RH meme volume is large and no major perp venue lists those coins. Blocked by manipulable thin-pool oracles and missing borrow supply. Recurve, size it, Pools Perps and Arc Finance are first attempts.
- **Fair, curated launches**: proof of distinct buyer, immutable no-waiver parameters, canonical-pool enforcement, curation that finds long-term coins, verifiable creator-fee covenants, a holder wind-down right. Blocked by sybil economics, aggregator compatibility and the incentive of pads to maximise launches.
- **Trust data**: neutral, signer-verified trader and agent track records; cross-chain deployer memory; revenue-verified token data. Blocked because venues profit from the same traders and nobody pays for neutral ratings.
- **Prediction market integrity**: deterministic resolution for long-tail markets, conditional markets and PM derivatives. Blocked by oracle design and regulation.
- **Agent safety**: bounded loss (on-chain caps, injection firewall, bonds and cover), and a bridge from broker agents to on-chain assets. Blocked by LLM security limits and by Robinhood owning the regulated agent.
- **Payments with protection**: disputable stablecoin payments, merchant-funded stock-back rewards, spending stocks without selling. Blocked by rail design, merchant deals and the stock token legal form.

Things that barely exist because nobody wants them: more launchpads and launchpad factories, meme-gas L3s, per-chain name services, NFT tickets, metaverse land, move-to-earn with sneakers, wallet voice calls, exotic quote assets with no liquidity, a "Robinhood Chain token".

## 4. What is coming in the next 3 to 12 months

- **Robinhood**: Stock Token 1:1 redemption and voting via Say (roadmap, teased 22 Sep, unrevealed); a US Tokenized Securities Venue once a 30-day public notice appears (Uniswap v4 Permissioned Pools are the likely rails); more asset classes (private equity, real estate, art, commodities); 24/7 trading in the main app (narrows the off-hours edge that is unique to on-chain stock tokens today); US crypto perps (8 coins, no single-stock perps); Robinhood Agents with Loops and Agent Apps; Robinhood Social; gasless Wallet swaps to 31 Dec; Founder House Singapore 23 to 25 Oct with $300K prizes.
- **Regulation**: GENIUS final rules (effective by Jan 2027); SEC "Regulation Crypto" retail token sales up to about $5M; CFTC prediction market rules and the state preemption fight; CLARITY possibly revived in the lame duck or 2027; EU DLT pilot expansion.
- **Markets**: Hyperliquid US access through Payward and Bitnomial; HIP-4 outcome contracts cross-margined with perps; CME GPU-hour futures (Oct 2026), which invites on-chain compute index products; Polymarket token and airdrop; confidential stablecoins (Sui, XRPL, Fairblock on Arbitrum).
- **Launch layer**: pump.fun keeps absorbing every lever and is described as becoming infrastructure for other pads; Zora aggregates pads crosschain; LONG pushes its community vault as "the liquidity backbone for tokenized stocks"; Pons ships its app, profiles and new quote assets; Uniswap pushes CCA launches and hook grants on RH.
- **Ethereum**: Glamsterdam (ePBS) in Q4, then FOCIL and native account abstraction in 2027, which will upstream features that today are sold as wrappers.

## 5. What people ask for (unaffiliated demand, strongest first)

1. Honest trader and KOL reputation ("I wish there was a list of relevant traders... actually objective"; "lost $11,000 copy trading").
2. Launches without snipers, bundles and waivers; params that cannot change after launch.
3. Pro execution inside social apps: limit orders, TP/SL, wallet import, no hidden fees (fomo's median effective fee was measured near 1.9%).
4. Safety: address poisoning, KYC leaks leading to physical attacks (SEC Commissioner Peirce's KYC post drew 10,000 likes).
5. Privacy with selective disclosure.
6. Something useful to do with stock tokens: borrow, short, options, dividends that trade, votes, redemption.
7. On-chain options, especially on the long tail ("the biggest missing unlock").
8. Prediction markets that resolve fairly and fast, plus derivatives on them.
9. Leverage and shorts on memes no venue lists ("who's building for the person who thinks that 100x is about to go to zero?").
10. Token value accrual and a graceful wind-down when projects die.
11. Under-collateralized credit (Base lead, 521 likes).
12. Curation: "how to find the coins that are actually going to do well long term" (Ansem).
13. On RH specifically: a usable explorer, real active-trader stats, more app listings, the chain surfaced inside the Robinhood app, redemption and voting, US access.

VCs ask for infrastructure (stablecoin rails, agent payments, RWA perps, privacy, unsecured credit). Retail asks for fairness, trust and execution. Where both overlap (credit from reputation, privacy with disclosure, prediction market resolution, stock-token utility) is where a significant new product is most likely to be real.

## 6. Robinhood Chain: direction and what its leaders say

**What the chain is**: a corporate L2 built as Robinhood's tokenization and DeFi rail. Two months in it claimed $34.6B of DEX volume, $1.27B TVL and 190+ Stock Tokens; by late September cumulative DEX volume passed $75B, Morpho on RH passed $1B of deposits, and briefly RH out-earned Solana and Base in chain fees. Gas subsidies ended 29 Sep. The trust model is weak by design (Robinhood sequencer, forced inclusion disabled, EOA-validated bridge per L2BEAT).

**What leaders say**:
- Vlad Tenev: "Tokenization is coming to America... instant settlement, 24/7 trading, fractionalization by default" (17 Sep). "The builder response to Robinhood Chain has been immediate... If you're building onchain, we want to hear from you" (16 Sep). It would be "a strange outcome if the rest of the world could build the future of ownership around American assets while Americans themselves were left behind" (18 Aug).
- Johann Kerbrat (SVP Crypto and International): memes are welcome by design, "a great way to bring these DeFi native people, to bring market makers, to bring TVL into the chain" (Jul). Stock-paired memes "emerged organically" and "experimentation is often how novel primitives find their footing" (24 Sep). "Hooks are becoming one of the most active, and interesting, things happening on Robinhood Chain" (2 Oct). Volume on Stock Tokens "will hit some of its limits" under the new rules (1 Oct). Positioning line: "Built for RWAs. Enabled by DeFi."
- The official account courts hook builders ("who's shipping hooks on robinhood chain?", 2 Oct) and frames the chain as running "on memes & RWAs & vibes".

**What Robinhood wants builders to do**, in its own order: make Stock Tokens composable (lending, collateral, perps, vaults, structured products, payments), build v4 hooks, build for agents, use memes as the liquidity on-ramp, use USDG, integrate with Robinhood Wallet. **What it will build itself**: redemption and voting, the US venue, in-app 24/7 trading, Earn, agents, social, perps. A third party competing head-on with those is in a cosmetic race it will lose.

**The read for the judge**: the direction is RWA first, memes as fuel, hooks as the builder surface. Significance on RH comes from fixing what Stock Tokens structurally lack, from using RH-only assets or Robinhood surfaces, and from fairness and trust layers the trenches lost after the waiver scandal. The HOOD Summit (29 Sep to 1 Oct) barely mentioned the chain, because the US brokerage stage cannot market offshore products; chain news comes through @RobinhoodCrypto, Kerbrat and international events.

## 7. How to use the map and the rubric

**Step by step for one coin, under a minute:**
1. Read the first-minute text (on-chain description, X bio, site). Write the one-line claim.
2. Place it in one `map_v2.json` category by mechanism, not theme. A dog coin that pays NVDA is `rewards_in_stock`; a stock-named meme with no mechanism is `meme_company_stock`.
3. Read that category's `maturity`, `cosmetic_differentiators` and `meaningful_differentiators`. Most claims match a cosmetic line directly.
4. Check the dated commodity list in the rubric against the coin's own timestamp. When replaying history, a feature is cosmetic only from the date it became common; the first instance before that date can still score.
5. Run the rubric's ordered steps; name the gap if you call it NOVEL_SIGNIFICANT; write one sentence with the deciding fact.

**Maturity labels mean**: saturated (many live players, no room for mechanism novelty), crowded (several live copies in the last weeks, usually on RH), growing (real traction, room for one or two meaningful variants), early (first attempts, novelty possible but unproven), missing (demanded, no credible product: the most likely home of NOVEL_SIGNIFICANT).

**Validation done**: all 354 radar flags were placed into 169 of the 293 categories (mapping in `flag_placement_v2.txt`, one line per flag: number and category id); 60 were spot-checked by hand and the map was adjusted where they did not fit (funded-trader prop firms added to copy vaults, Dutch stock auctions added to buyback engines, leveraged NFT curves to NFT launch mechanics). The densest categories were alternative-asset quote pads (9 flags), fee-funded strategy treasuries (7), NFT launch mechanics (7) and state-gated reward variants (6): exactly the places where the radar mistook parameter changes for novelty.

**Calibration from replaying the flags**: about 45% NONE or plain category members, about 40% COSMETIC, about 12% NOVEL_MINOR, about 3% NOVEL_SIGNIFICANT. Candidates that scored 2 or more on replay sit in a small set of categories: `rwa_corporate_action_infra`, `rwa_market_hours_liquidity`, `oracle_equity_session`, `lend_margin_credit_accounts` (spot-backed meme leverage), `perp_long_tail_meme`, `nav_treasury_share`, `pm_onchain_native_events` (the first instance only), `pad_auction_fair_batch` (the first instance), `pad_curation_quorum`, `deployer_memory_graph`, `ai_agent_wallet_policy` with on-chain caps, and `earnings_metric_markets`.

**Maintenance**: the commodity list decays fastest. Add a row whenever a top-3 incumbent ships a lever as a toggle or a third live copy appears. Move a `missing` category to `early` the day a credible deployed product appears, and record the date, so later replays stay honest. Re-check the Robinhood roadmap items monthly: if Robinhood ships redemption, voting, a TSV or an agent bridge, third-party projects in those lanes drop to COSMETIC from that date.
