The San Francisco and San Jose federal court Clerk’s Offices will be closed Friday, May 3, as the first furlough day for Clerk’s Office staff under the current budget-cutting world. Courts remain open for hearings and chambers staff continue to work, but it will not be possible to hand carry filings to the San Francisco or San Jose offices.
The Oakland office, however, will remain open to receive filings and handle other normal business.
The furloughs will continue for San Francisco and San Jose on the first Friday of each month from now to September.
In Oakland, the furloughs will be the first Monday of each month through September.
